Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, Golden Rock
Middle of Myanmar Yangon and Mawlamyine, mysterious Stone. Foreigners have to pay10,000kyat(June, 2019) as the entrance fee. From Yangon (high speed, long distance bus terminal), it takes a time for 4 or 5 hours Then we have to take a truck bus, and go to the top of the mountain. The truck is 2,000kyat(June, 2019). The street is a little bit rough and driving is aloso rough... You might be a car sickness...
And top of the mountain, it might be raining, you should take a rain coat and umbrella in rainy season. The vinyil rain coat is sold around the departure of the truck bus.

Cable Car of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, Golden Rock
A cable car was made. However, it is NOT necessary to use and get on the cable car, because the cable car is not from Kimpun (the entrance to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda) to Kyaiktiyo Paogda. Customers have to get on the Truck Bus, then we get off and change from the track bus to The Cable Car. The Cable Car Station is almost the top of the mountain.
Even if it gets off on the way, The Cable Car Station is almost near the end the way. We get on the track bus, we can get to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda at 2,000 kyat(one way), but if we get off and use The Cable Car, we have to pay the fee of Cable car 7,000 kyat one way more, 10,000 kyat round trip. So it costs 2,000kyat(one way) for the cost of the truck bus, 7,000kyat for the cost of the cable car, so the total, is 9,000kyat. The round Trip is 4,000 kyat for the Truck Bus, 10,000kyat for The Cable Car, so the total is 14,000kyat.
If it is only a truck bus, The cost is only 4,000 kyat round trip.
Using the cable car, 4,000 kyat + 10,000 kyat = 14,000 kyat round trip.
The ropeway is about the last 20% of the section from Kimpun to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda. Please, show the map.
I am not sure why the cable car was made like that??? It is a mystery. Is it a problem of money and technology?

On the contrary, taking a time more, if you use the cable car, because you have to buy ticket, get on the cable car. Higher price, taking a time by using the cable car. |

When you buy a ticket and go upstairs, you will find the cable car platform. There was security, but nobody check it. People who got off the track bus were about 1/4 to 1/5 of the all cusomers, and used the cable car. The almost people went straight going to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda by the track bus. |

How to go to ｋyaiktiyo Pagoda
One day trip from Yangon
How to get to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda from Yangon You have to go to the High Speed Bus, Long Distance Bus Terminal (Aung Mingalar Bus Terminal) from your hotel. And take a bus to the city, Kin Pun Sakhan. This town is the entrance of the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda. You go to KyaiktiyoPagoda by a trampled bus from Kin Pun Sakhan.
From Yangon to Kin Pun Sakhan, it takes about 4 hours each way, so if you go from Yangon you have to leave the hotel early in the morning. If possible, we recommend that you take the bus before 7 o'clock at the Yangon Bus Terminal.
The reason is that the return bus from Kin Pun Sakhan to Yangon finish very early time. So we recommend that you leave the hotel around 5 o'clock and take a bus at 6 o'clock bus if possible.

One day trip from Yangon
It takes about 4 hours on one way from Mawlamyine to ｋyaiktiyo Pagoda, but it is not far from the bus terminal compare with Yangon, so it will be easier to go to ｋyaiktiyo Pagoda more than yangon. But you have to leave from Mawlamyine and your hotel early in the morning.
Even from Mawlamyine, I go to the city of ｋyaiktiyo Pagoda, and from there take the truck bus to ｋyaiktiyo Pagoda.

When going from Yangon to Moramijain, Hpa-an
If you go from Yangon to Mawlamyine, Hpa-an, you may be worried about luggage, but you can bring it together.
I think that you can buy a ticket for a bus to Hpa-an, Mawlamyine at the Kin Pun Sakhan, there is luggage storage at that bus company, there is no problem. Or if you ask at a restaurant etc.
※ Please bring your valuables. Please be careful not to put it in the baggage.
Please be aware that the bus from the returning Kin Pun Sakhan will be finished in a relatively early time. After finishing sightseeing in ｋyaiktiyo Pagoda, we recommend that you come back to the city of Kin Pun Sakhan by 13 o'clock if possible.
